Many of our schools will be participating in a city-wide challenge this September encouraging 21 days to establish Kindness as a habit. The challenge was first created last year by Springhill Elementary when parent Maya Smith, Executive Director of Born This Way Foundation was about to launch her son into Kindergarten and wanted to help establish a good year full of generosity and good-will. She decided that it should not only be her son who started the year off this way but maybe encourage the bigger community.
Now a year later, the challenge has spread and cast a wide net.
What does #BeKind21 hope to accomplish? From the Born This Way Foundation: BeKind21 is an invitation to think about and prioritize how you are caring for yourself and how you’re taking care of those around you. We hope #BeKind21 is an opportunity for students, teachers, and families to kick off the new school year by establishing kinder habits that will last all year and for everyone else to head into fall with spirits of compassion and action.
We celebrate all of our school's participating in this challenge and look forward to feeling warmth and community around town. Look for the #BeKind21 hashtag and our schools on social media and let's spread the Kind Lafayette!
